Phase 2B

Phase 2B-1 Public Information Meeting Presentation Aug. 19, 2009

The Phase 2B project will construct the southernmost portion of the Carson City Freeway starting at the Fairview Drive Interchange, which is the southern terminus of the Phase 2A project, and continue south on a new alignment to a point where it connects to US 50 West at the existing US 50 West - Tahoe Juncture / S. Carson Street intersection.

•  The Freeway will be designed for two lanes in each direction with provisions for future widening in the median.

•  The southern ramps for Fairview Drive Interchange will be constructed providing a full interchange.

•  A full SPUI (Single Point Urban Interchange) will be constructed at US 50 West-Tahoe Junction / S. Carson Street intersection.

•  Grade separation structures will be constructed at Koontz Lane, Clearview Drive and Snyder Avenue. Grade separations will allow traffic to pass over the Freeway with no access provided to the Freeway.

•  A drainage system will be constructed to convey roadway drainage and flood flows intercepted by the Freeway alignment to the Kings Canyon Drainage Channel (Lompa Ranch area) constructed in the Phase 1 project. The drainage system will include detention basins, channels, box culverts and pipes within the Freeway corridor conveying storm runoff flows to water quality basins, providing water quality treatment of the storm water discharges from the Freeway and the surrounding drainages before it reaches the Carson River.

•  NDOT has conducted a noise study along the Phase 2 corridor to determine where noise mitigation measures will be required.  Locations for the sound walls in Phase 2B have been established.
