Phase 2A

The Phase 2A project constructed the central portion of the Carson City Freeway starting at the US 50 East Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), which is the southern terminus of the Phase 1 project, and continuing south on a new alignment to a partial interchange at Fairview Drive.

•  The southern ramps for US 50 East SPUI have been constructed making a full interchange.

•  A partial interchange has been constructed at Fairview Drive, providing full access to and from the Freeway north of Fairview Drive. This serves as the southern terminus of the Freeway until the Phase 2B portion is completed and opened to traffic.

•  A grade separation structure has been constructed at E. Fifth Street. Grade separations allow traffic to pass over the Freeway with no access provided to the Freeway.

•  The Linear Ditch Park multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path has been re-aligned to cross the Freeway north of the E. Fifth Street grade separation, connecting to Carson City's bicycle path system at Butti Way.

•  A drainage system has been constructed to convey roadway drainage and flood flows intercepted by the Freeway alignment to the Kings Canyon Drainage Channel (Lompa Ranch area) constructed in the Phase 1 project. The drainage system includes detention basins, channels, box culverts and pipes within the Freeway corridor conveying storm runoff flows to water quality basins, providing water quality treatment of the storm water discharges from the Freeway and the surrounding drainages before it reaches the Carson River.

•  NDOT has conducted a noise study along the Phase 2 corridor to determine where noise mitigation measures will be required.  No soundwalls are planned for the Phase 2A portion of the Freeway.
