The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has developed a design for the Carson City Freeway. The project has been broken into two phases, each of which has two sub-phases. Each phase is outlined below. Specific project phase information can be accessed by clicking on the Phase 1 or Phase 2 text links below, or on the map to the right.
Construction phases for the Carson City Freeway are as follows:
Advanced
Bridge Contract (Phase 1A)
College Parkway,
Emerson, Northgate, Arrowhead bridges
Storm Drain from Arrowhead to College Parkway
Construction Completed April 2002
Remainder
of Phase 1 (Phase 1B)
Storm Drain from
College Parkway to Lompa Ranch
US 50, Carmine & US 395 Bridges
Soundwalls, Traffic Items, Complete Freeway Elements.
Construction Completed July 2006

US 50 East to Fairview Drive (Phase 2A)
Two miles of 4-lane
(two lanes in each direction) access controlled Freeway.
Phase 2A Section will include the following features:
· Completion of US 50 E. InterchangeAt the end of construction of this phase, the freeway will be open to traffic from north of Carson City to Fairview Drive.
Phase 2A is currently under construction.
Fairview Drive to S. Carson Street / US 50 West – Tahoe Junction (Phase 2B)
Phase 2B Section will include the following features:
· Completion of the 4-lane Freeway from Fairview Drive to
S. Carson
Street
· Completion of Fairview Drive Interchange
· Full service interchange at S. Carson Street
· Grade separated crossings (no Freeway access) at:
o Koontz Lane· Drainage facilities for roadway runoff and offsite stormwater flows
o Clearview Drive
o Snyder Avenue
The construction is finished the freeway will be open from north of Carson City to S. Carson Street Interchange, completing the Carson City Freeway.
Anticipated Freeway completion is 2012 - 2014 subject to funding availability.
