Horizontal signal heads
Horizontal signal heads are used when there is not enough clearance for vertical heads. The new Freeway interchange at US 50 East and College Parkway will have horizontal signal heads. The signal heads will be similar to those shown in these photos of an intersection in Las Vegas.

Notice that the green indicators are on the right side of each signal head and the red indicators are on the left.
Here is a photo of the new signal at College Parkway. Although not operational at the time of this photo, the horizontal signal heads are under the bridge in the left-turn lanes.
