Noise Mitigation: SOUNDWALLS
To minimize the impact of traffic noise to adjacent freeway residences soundwalls will be constructed along the freeway corridor. These walls range from 6 to 17 feet in height and will reduce noise levels between five to eight decibels at adjacent freeway locations. There are approximately four and one half miles of soundwall built in Phase 1 and three miles of wall proposed for Phase 2.
Phase 1 Soundwall Locations
There are no soundwalls in Phase 2A.
Phase 2B Soundwall Locations
The wall will be placed adjacent to the roadway shoulder as shown below, or along the top of cut slopes in the depressed Freeway segments. See Aesthetics - Soundwall Treatment for more about the soundwall design, including the special design for the wall adjacent to the Stewart Community of the Washoe Indian Tribe
