Environmental Wetland Mitigation The freeway corridor will impact existing wetlands in three locations. Both on and off site mitigation of these impacted wetlands will take place. Creation of higher quality wetland areas will take place at the "Wetlands Bank" located south of Washoe Lake. This site was built by NDOT specifically for such purposes. The site includes wells and pumping stations to help insure the wetlands are perpetuated in times of drought. In addition, Carson City has constructed replacement wetlands located on the Silver Saddle Ranch. On-site wetlands will be created in the Lompa field area in conjunction with a large drainage detention basin. |
