| Aesthetics
The final appearance of the freeway corridor is important to the success of the project. It not only must be functional from a traffic standpoint, but the corridor must be visually acceptable to the community. As part of the planning and design for the project, consideration has been and will continue to be given to the aesthetics of various features throughout the freeway corridor.
Architectural Treatment
Bridges and walls that are visible to both drivers and adjacent properties are often painted or have other design features to make them more attractive. The bridge structures on Phase 2A of the Carson City Freeway project are painted in the same way as those of the Phase 1B project.
Below are photos of bridges and walls in the Phase 1B project that have been enhanced with aesthetic treatments. Not all of the work was completed at the time of these photos.
Bridges, walls and barrier rail will be painted with taupe and sage green colors, “Wooden Peg” and “Mission Trail” by Dunn & Edwards, respectively, as shown on this photo of the Northern Interchange Bridge.
